Heidi Montag: Fashion Outcast

The Hills
is the popular kid these days, and the "it-girls" are in demand (it's true . . . every other post on this blog seems to be about these girls). Major fashion designers are sending thousands of dollars worth of covet-worthy clothing to Lauren Conrad and Audrina Patridge.

However, the CHEESE stands alone. Heidi
Montag is not enjoying the fashion perks of being on the show. Fox News reports:

One of Los Angeles’ leading fashion reps (who is often responsible for dressing the likes of Miley Cyrus, Angelina Jolie, Fergie and Carmen Electra) told Pop Tarts that Heidi’s public persona is a little too cheap even for casual (but classy) brands. "They don’t want their stuff on Heidi, even despite the fact that she is very media-friendly and is photographed a lot," the rep said. "It’s just not the caliber of celebrity most clients go for."

Heidi - cheap? What are they talking about? I thought her Heidiwood collection was classy. I heard that Tara Reid fashionistas are buying it up. I kid. I kid. Actually, Heidi's clothing line seems to be enjoying more success, while Lauren's got dumped by Kitson. I think the real difference between the two clothing lines boils down to the $ factor and the taste factor. While Lauren's line has simple casual feminine classics, they are a bit overpriced for her fan base (a long sleeve plain top costs $90!). Heidi's line probably appeals to the college girl who wants a sexy look at an affordable price. When it comes to Heidi's personal style - I think sometimes she looks pretty good, but other times she looks like she's trying too hard to look like a sexy-before Kfed-Britney.

"The fashion houses really want those girls wearing their product," the publicist said. "They’re photographed a lot and are known just for being cool Hollywood girls."
